Beth Hart is a Los Angeles native and blues-singing, rock vocalist. She was a street performer before she first made her appearance with Immortal in the year 1995. Her outspoken, raw charisma, musicality and emotional live shows attracted attention. Chuck Taylor wrote that Hart was "the embodiment of natural females" in the October 2 issue of Billboard magazine. Hart is "bawdy humorous, funny, charming, and free-wheeling with her preference to use a spicy the language. But that's not much compared to her onstage presence, where the tall, gaunt singer/songwriter struts and squalls out songs with the vim that is Mick Jagger .... At other times, she takes her place at the piano or on the center stage, sitting with no pretense, her legs resting on the edges of the chair, conjuring a voice so delicate and pained that you're wondering if she's going to cry--or perhaps you'll. Hart had similar reactions to the time she first took to the stage for amateur competitions as a teenager. But, Hart had doubts about the business side of music after it was an instant success. Hart left her band when she failed to tour all over the world. Hart then spent nearly four years contemplating her feelings and finding solutions to issues with music through writing. In the end, eager to give her professional career a second chance, she returned in 1999 with the highly acclaimed Screamin' for My Supper the album that saw Hart's songwriting skills mature with honest, vulnerable songs about tackling life's problems.
